Self-guided Hike in Rila and Pirin Mountains

Duration:  8 days/7 nights

Technical difficulty: moderate (4-7 hours a day;up to 800 m of ascent/descent)

Day 1Welcome to Bulgaria

Arrive at Sofia Airport. Transfer to Govedartsi, a transfer for about 1,30 hours.

Day 2Zekiritsa walk 

Transfer to Hut Vada.

Walk from Hut Vada to Zekiritsa plateau and descend to Govedartsi village. 

Walking time: 4 hours. + 250m; - 500m. 


Day 3: Hike to Maliovitsa peak

Hike from the Mountaineering school to Malyovitsa peak.

Walking time: 6 hours. + 900m; - 900m. 


Day 4: Hike to TheSeven Rila Lakes

Walk from Hut Vada to the area of the Seven Rila Lakes.

Walking time: 6 hours. + 700m; - 700m.


Day 5Rila Monastery and on to Pirin Mountains

Transfer to Rila Monastery. Short walk above the monastery to the cave of St. Ivan Rilski.

Visit ot Rila monastery - UNESCO heritage site.

Transfer to Bansko city, located at the foothill of the Pirin Mountains.

Walking time: 2 hours. + 100m; - 250m. 

Accommodation in Bansko in a 3 star family hotel.


Day 6Hike to Vihren Peak

Walk from Hut Vihren (1950m) to the second highest peak in Bulgaria - Mt Vihren 2914m. Finish at the oldest tree in Bulgaria the Baikusheva Mura (more than 1300 years old). 

Walking time: 6 - 8 hours. + 1000m; - 1000m. 


Day 7:Todorina Porta Mountain Pass

Hike from Hut Vihren (1950m). through Todorina porta and finish at hut Demianitsa.

Walking time: 7 hours. + 600m; - 1300m.  


Day 8: Back to Sofia

Transfer to Sofia, a transfer for about 2,30 hours.

Arrive at Sofia Airport and check in for your return flight.
