Trip Summary

Have you ever heard of ‘the Little Horse’ or the ‘Marble Ridge’? Well, you don’t need to be a great rider or mountaineer to visit them! Just join us on this high-mountain adventure and we’ll show you Bulgaria from a different perspective.

The tour passes through Rila and Pirin National Parks – revealing one of the most stunning alpine views in Bulgaria. We start the trip crossing the highest peak in the Balkans – Mussala (2925m). The next stage to Malyovitsa Peak (2729m) passes through the highest ‘via ferrata’ in the country – ‘The Doll’. On our 3rd day, we reach ‘Evil Tooth’ Peak (2678m) and a steep 1000m descent via ‘The White Corridor’ leads us to Bulgaria’s greatest cultural treasure, the UNESCO-listed Rila Monastery.

In the following days we enjoy the outstanding beauty of Pirin National Park (UNESCO). We visit Popovo glacial lake and the nearby jagged ridge called the ‘Guardians’. Then we climb Vihren Peak (2914m) passing through ‘Djamdjiev’ mountain edge and on to the white marble ridge called ‘the Little Horse’ and the ‘Djindjiritsa’ Nature Reserve. On our last day we visit the capital, Sofia.

Home-made dinners, traditional Bulgarian music, overnights in family-run Guest houses & mountain huts add a further touch of authenticity to this great mountain adventure.
