Bulgaria makes an instant impression with its well-preserved natural environment. It has a fascinating natural diversity of mountains, rivers and valleys, caves and rocks, canyons and waterfalls. Similarly impressive is the biological diversity, which adds to the unique character of these lands.

Eco-trails are allocated throughout the country usually in plain and hilly parts. This is a way to comfortably get under the skin of the country and enjoy the nature without doing any harm to it. During our trips we also experience the rural way of life and try and learn more about people we meet.

Eco-trails offer a special view to nature and a window into beliefs of Bulgarian's village inhabitants.

List of famous eco-trails in Bulgaria

Smolyanska eco-trail is another trail in the Rodopi Mountains. It is located some 5 km from Smolyan. Called “The Gorge of the Waterfalls” the path follows the course of the river for about 6 km introducing the visitor to various natural phenomena.

Trunska eco-trail covers the area of the famous Erma river gorge. It offers a relaxing day-trip through the relatively unknown, beautiful region of Trun (west of Sofia).

Most of the eco-trails are built in the Balkan range called also Stara planina and its sub regions.
